The authors describe the project, then argue that the dam will adversely affect migratory fish species, irrawaddy dolphins, tourism and threaten Siphadone’s eligibility for RAMSAR status. The authors recommend that rather than build the Don Sahong Dam, plans to designate Siphandone as a RAMSAR site should be moved forward and ecotourism promoted.
