This webpage capture shows wsorkers struck to demand reinstatement of union leaders, a $190 minimum wage and for their employer to respect the decision of the Arbitration Council, which had in June ordered the company to reinstate the workers. The company, however, issued a letter declining to obey. On August 29, union representatives negotiated with company management. Management refused to reinstate the local union president and an activist. On September 1, Labor Ministry officials visited the factory, asking workers to cease strikes and calling on the factory owners to provide seniority indemnity pay and engage in further negotiations. On September 2, workers submitted a petition to the Ministry of Labor, asking that the unionists be reinstated. The outcome was on September 4, workers agreed to return to work on September 7 even though their demand of reinstating two fired unionists remained unmet. Authorities requested the union suspend the strike whilst waiting for the Minister of Labor to make a decision on their appeal. On September 12, the Ministry of Labor upheld the firings.
