Greeen Solutions For Livable Cities

This publication is authored by a multidisciplinary technical assistance team of experts. It shares solutions emerging from the GrEEEn Cities Initiative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Southeast Asia and good practices that show the effectiveness of integrated approaches that reinforce each other, rather than work in isolation. The authors have developed approaches to address varying urban contexts, which have been successfully piloted in seven Southeast Asian cities. This has led to the development of GrEEEn City Action Plans and roadmaps for investing in livable cities. Furthermore, the publication describes the value of developing consensus among stakeholders and investing in strong institutional Urban Management Partnerships to enable peer learning and capacity building. ADB recognizes that urban transformation promotes broader sustainability. Our Urban Operational Plan 2012–2020 outlines strategies for economic competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and social equity.
