east-asia-s-changing-urban-landscape-measuring-a-decade-of-spatial-growth

This study attempted to provide systematic data on the scale and form of urban expansion in East Asia through empirical observation. (China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar are included, among other countries.) The study analyzed the built-up areas throughout the region in 2000 and in 2010 using satellite imagery. The data produced allows deeper exploration of issues such as urban expansion, urban population change, and urban density. In addition to this publication, a large new dataset based on the research has been released.
