Law on the ratification of the ASEAN Trade in Services Agreement (ATISA)

The Law on the Ratification of the ASEAN Trade in Services Agreement (ATISA) was adopted by the National Assembly on May 30, 2023, and was fully reviewed for its form and legal substance by the Senate on June 13, 2023. The ASEAN Trade in Services Agreement (ATISA) aims to strengthen economic ties and boost economic development across the ASEAN community. It achieves this by reducing barriers to services trade and investment and creating a more predictable business environment.

Notes

ATISA is designed to narrow the development gap among Member States to ensure equitable, balanced, and sustainable socio-economic development. The agreement is also expected to increase SME participation in trade and investment and promote better regulation and human resource development. ATISA was signed by the ASEAN Economic Ministers in October 2020 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
