The Xayaburi dam: Threatening food security in the Mekong

A report exploring the impacts of the Xayaburi Dam on food security in the Mekong. The authors outline the importance of the Mekong for food security, and food concerns in resettled villages. The authors argue that (1) resettlement activities at the dam site have violated Laos law; (2) Laos has not fulfilled its commitment to study transboundary impacts; (3) developers have not left time to resolve food security concerns; and (4) no solutions have been found to mitigate the dam’s impacts. The authors call for an immediate stop to all construction and relocation activities.
