Positional Accuracy The location of some economic zones is determined by the location of the commune or village from the archives or research references.
Logical Consistency According to Khmer Times news, published on 1st February 2020, and report dashboard prepared by Economic Diplomacy Coordinating Group of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation published by 15 November 2021, Cambodia has 54 special economic zones and 26 are operational. However, ODC teams has currently found only 52 location of the special economic zones (SEZ). There has been no evidence yet found regarding the other location of SEZ. On the other hand, According to CDC there were 24 SEZs are operating.
Completeness This dataset contains all of the data that is currently available to Open Development Cambodia (ODC) and is not exhaustive. While ODC takes every efforts to ensure that both spatial and non-spatial data are accurate and up to date, some information of the SEZs may have changed since the dataset and map were published. Moreover, additional SEZs, which are not yet included here, may have been approved and established.
Process Step Available data was collected from many sources by ODC’s mappers such as the royal gazette of Cambodia's government, government website and reports of the governmental ministries in hard and soft copies of pdf format. The data in pdf format was then transformed into shapefile format. When the map is not available in the sources, the data is digitized by based on the location stated in the source. The data in shapefile format was finally exported to CSV, KMZ, and GEOJSON files. In Addition, the data of SEZ was retrieved from Mekong Infrastructure Tracker in SHP file (Polygon).
