Minebea Opens First Precision Motor Plant in Cambodia
Minebea Co., Ltd. completed construction on the first building of its precision motor plant in Cambodia's Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ). A ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the plant at 3:00 p.m. local time on December 17. Minebea was granted an operating permit by the Cambodian government in December 2010 to become the first motor manufacturer in Cambodia, and started small-scale production at a leased facility (with a total floor area of 2,304 m2) located within the PPSEZ on April 1, 2011. Now that its own plant's first production facility (with a total floor area of 28,000 m2) in the PPSEZ has been completed, production will shift into high gear.
